THE NEW LINDALVA CENTRE,
2019 to Now

Background

The Lindalva Centre was a refuge for children, youth, and vulnerable women, who often fall prey to domestic violence and human trafficking, in the factory neighborhood in Phnom Penh. It was run by the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de
Paul, who opened it in 2006 to serve the needs of migrant families who came to the city looking for jobs.

The old centre was closed in October 2020 after it became inhabitable due to damages from flooding. The sisters needed a new place around the neighbourhood. We helped raise funds to start the construction of the New Lindalva Centre, which will be completed in the third quarter of 2023, despite numerous disruptions and increasing challenges to raise funds during the
pandemic.
